Three Rivers Park District is developing an updated master plan for Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, located at the northwest edge of Hennepin County on the Crow River in the cities of Rogers and Hanover. The large, uninterrupted expanse of land contained within the park reserve is a unique space providing wilderness and wildlife habitat in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

The master plan process will further define the importance of the park’s natural resource protection balanced against recreational access.

Key goals of the master plan include:

Goal 1: Preserve the unique natural resources.

Goal 2: Celebrate the Crow River.

Goal 3: Introduce people to nature and outdoor recreation.

    Cross Country Skiing

    We loved cross country skiing at Crow Hassan. The park was less crowded than other locations, and had a special wilderness feeling. The trails were long enough, and had some fun, challenging places too.

    Experiencing the prairie

    I knew almost nothing about prairies before my first visits to the restored prairie at Crow-Hassan more than 30 years ago. The more I learned, the more I loved the prairie. Every season has its own magic: wildflowers and nesting trumpeter swans in the spring, butterflies in the summer, the colors of big bluestem and oaks in the fall, moonlight and starlight on snow in the winter.     Horse riding

    Some of our most memorable rides were at Crow Hassan Park. We loved riding there as a family before moving to Aitkin.
