July Construction Update

The trail builders from Progressive Trail Design are making great progress creating the new singletrack trail at Carver Park Reserve. The weather has cooperated, allowing the trail builders to construct an additional five to six miles of new trail. To date, approximately nine miles of trail have been cut in and are at various stages of completion; however, much work remains before the trail is finished. With the help of a Conservation Corps of Minnesota crew, trail crossings such as bridges and boardwalks are in the process of being built and installed throughout the trail system.

The singletrack trail is still on target to be completed this fall. Check back throughout the remainder of the summer for progress updates and a potential opening. This trail would not be possible without the partnership of One Track Mind Foundation.

April 29 - Spring Construction Update

Construction on the new singletrack trail is expected to resume in mid-May. Work began in September and trail builders cut-in approximately one third of the trail last fall before construction paused for the winter season.

Beginning in May, trail builders will complete the section started last fall and start working on the remaining two thirds of the trail. Trail crossings, bridges and boardwalks will also be constructed and installed.

Construction is expected to take approximately three months to complete, so we anticipate opening the trail in late summer or fall.

This spring, bikers have been observed riding the unfinished trails. We ask everyone to please be respectful and stay off the trail until it is open. Use of the unfinished trail can damage it, disrupt the trail builders and delay trail completion.

This exciting trail project is being developed in partnership with One Track Mind Foundation.

Project updates will be posted on the Three Rivers website at threeriversparks.org/carversingletrack. Visit that site for the latest news about the project.

Survey recap

In May 2019, we sought public input about ideas, hopes and concerns related to the new trail through a survey posted on this site. We received more than 900 responses from park users interested in mountain biking, horseback riding, archery, Nordic skiing and other activities.

Feedback about draft design

From June 11 - 23, 2019, the public was invited to make comments on the draft design map and in the Guestbook below. We also held a public open house on June 18, 2019, at Carver Park Reserve, which gave people an opportunity to ask questions and make written comments.

Although the comment period is closed, you can still view the map and the comments we received.
