Design and Construction
Design work for the new Bryant Lake Regional Trail between the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail and Bryant Lake Regional Park began earlier in 2025 and is now 30 percent complete. The Bryant Lake Regional Trail will be a paved, multi-use off-road regional trail that will travel from Minnetonka Mills Park in Minnetonka to Bryant Lake Regional Park in Eden Prairie. The trail will be located within the public right-of-way along Baker Road (County Road 60) and Rowland Road in Minnetonka. View a map of the planned trail route.
Through the design process, Three Rivers staff and the project consultant have identified these alignments for the trail. The general trail alignments will be as follows:
On the west side of Baker Road from Minnetonka Boulevard to Excelsior Boulevard
On the east side of Baker Road from Excelsior Boulevard to Rowland Road
On the north side of Rowland Road from Baker Road to Lone Lake Park
Generally following the existing trail through Lone Lake Park and connecting to paved trails within Bryant Lake Regional Park
To assist with trail design, samples of soil will be taken from within the public right-of-way along the potential trail route in October 2025.
We anticipate holding a public open house to share design progress early in 2026. Look for more information about the open house later this year.
Construction of the trail is planned for 2027 and 2028. When complete, the trail will connect to the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail, Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail, Bryant Lake Regional Park, Hopkins West Middle School, Minnetonka Mills and Lone Lake Park.
Planning Process
In 2019 Three Rivers worked with focus cities to obtain public input and identify a proposed north-south regional trail route between Eagle Lake Regional Park in Plymouth and Bryant Lake Regional Park in Eden Prairie. From June 2020 to March 2021, Three Rivers built upon this work with the additional engagement of residents along the proposed route and adjacent communities.
Three Rivers used this community and partner city feedback to determine a preferred route for the entire trail between Eagle Lake and Bryant Lake regional parks and developed a long-range plan, the Eagle Lake and Bryant Lake Regional Trails Long-Range Plan. The Park District presented the plan to public agency partners, the Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners and the Metropolitan Council. The plan was approved in the fall of 2021. Learn more about the planning process for the long-range plan.
For design and construction, the route between Eagle Lake and Bryant Lake regional parks has been split into two separate trails: The Eagle Lake Regional Trail and the Bryant Lake Regional Trail.
